I know it may be strange,
but one of my favorite sentences in the Bible is
when Jesus says to Peter, “Get behind me Satan!.
You do not have in mind the concerns of God,
but merely human concerns.
Satan and his demons hide in the dark corners of our lives.
They bring doubt and fear
along with anger and sometimes violence.
There are definitely times when we need to call it like it is
and tell Satan to get behind us.
At times he will show up in those around us
and sometimes in us as well.
That is why it is so important
that we come together as a community to worship.
We are here to pray for each other,
cheer each other on,
to pick each other up off the floor,
and dust each other off
when Satan enters the picture in each of our lives.
